Loise -- I should write this as a commentary on your entry but since we haven't refined our blog behavior seems better to just enter it in the main blog. First off congratulations on becoming a Grandmother. I have made it to great uncle but not yet grandfatherhood though I surely stand at that horizone. Secondly I wanted to recommend a program from Ira Glass's "This American Life" on the nature of the economic crisis -- it is really clear and offers a pretty good explanation of the main factors and give a very good idea of just how devastating the collapse of Lemands (I never could spell proper names) was.
